                                         The  beauty  of spring

One of the  things  I find amazing  in life is the  moving  of the  clock  forward  and backwards during  summer and winter  which has a very  significant  meaning  that  many  people  overlook. Spring  will  start in March  and on the   29th  of  March  2026, Big  Ben will  be moved   forward as  spring will say  goodbye  to the harsh  old  winter  and many  people will  be returning to  work soon as the weather warms up. Winter is  a very  stagnant  time , as the  clock  is moved backwards , some animals and plants go  into  hibernation  and most places  are almost at stand still  with  some businesses  like the ice  cream  people resting  their  vans , as few  people eat ice creams  during  winter. Spring is a season of transition between winter and summer, characterized by warming temperatures, melting snow, and longer daylight hours. Nature awakens as plants bloom, trees sprout new leaves, and animals emerge from hibernation or give birth. It is a time marked by increased rainfall, growth, and the arrival of migratory birds.

But  as  the  plants and  animals stand  up  to  move ,  many  people  still travel  to  warmer countries during  spring to  rest, before  summer  starts. As the  clock is  shifted  forward on the  29th  of  March, many  people  will  not remember  and some people   will  actually  wake up by 4.00am  to  dress  up for  service  or for work  just to find out that they are the early birds  that had  to arrive  one hour  earlier before  everyone. Lots of birds  will come out  of their  hibernation homes  and many people  will leave their  sleeping beds. There  are significances to life in the  events  to  usher  human  into the  Spring  and   Summer seasons, meaning that  life  will move forward  as many return to  work  and  other  activities.Life  will  become business  as usual for  many  people. Spring is often associated with spring  cleaning ,planting flowers, and enjoying outdoor activities. It  also  signifies progression for  United Kingdom  with  all the other  countries involved with  the season  as the  economies  get  better,  as many people  return to  activities. Spring and Summer signifies  a  return from  sleep  to life,  hence  the clock  moving forward  and the Spring flowers and  leaves will return to beautify the country. The  waters of  spring will   water  the entire country  during spring  and many  businesses  will see improvements. That is the  amazing  thing  about life,so   each  season  share  life  events, that  reflect  their meaning  to  human.

These are  the wonderful events  of nature  which  make life  amazing  and  interesting. Many people  embrace  spring  with joy  and laughter  and the  people  that sell umbrella  have  business  boom as  many  buy  lots  of the  products  to protect  themselves from the  showers  of spring. It is a dicey weather  sometimes , as people have to juggle  life between  the   cold sometimes  the  rain and  the warmer weather . And  walking swiftly  inside the rain, becomes the  norm  of the day as  life moves  on away from  winter. Life moves  forward  indeed and for  the  elderly  it  reminds  them  about  life  as  younger people,  embracing  each  weather yearly,  moving  from winter  to spring  and back  to  Summer and it brings  beautiful  memories  of what  may have happened  to them  over the years . Spring signifies  a time of hope , as  we move into the  bright better  summer  days , without  wearing  our heavy  coats  and   clothes.Everyone  is looking  forward  to the clock  moving  forward  with  joy  and  anticipation.

Spring waves goodbye  to the winter  days

by  Chinyere  Nwakanma

Spring  waves  goodbye  to the  winter  days

Spring Returns ,Spring  Returns, Spring  Returns

With  springs on people's feet

As  the bird's  eggs  and the bird's  nests

Grace  the grasses  near  the  sea beds

And  the  daffodils

Spring  up  near  the  Streams

Spring waves goodbye  to the  winter  days

As the  spring days  return

Spring  returns  ,Spring  returns,Spring returns

As  the  women  wave  goodbye

To  the cold  waves  from the  sea nearby

Spring returns  as  tears of joy

Roll  down from  the trees  and the flowers

Tasty  and dried  from the  lash

Of the  cold winter  who withered their petals

As they  laughed   to drink  from the  springs

Of  the  spring waters  of  the  springs

Spring  returns  with  the happy, clappy  children

Dancing to the music of  joy

Spring  returns  as the  clock

Moves  forward and with the  news

Of the  spring  blooming  flower's  move

Spring  returns  as  the  bright  flowers  wake

As  spring  wakes   them from  sleep  and slumber

And the women  leave the hunger

As the music blasts  on the  windows

Spring  returns  with  its  beauty

As  the  gardens  bloom  and the  petals  laugh

As  they soak the  water  of spring  and  breathe

As  their leaves  leave the  winter pains

Spring returns  as  life  returns to the  days

Of  gain  and no pains

As Spring  awakes  the sleeping  flowers

And the  dying trees and  the flowers

Awake to fun  and laughter

Spring  returns and awakes  the  sleeping  men

And  women  wearied by the lashes  of  winter

Wearied  by the  days  of  struggle  and  scrapple

The  women  leave their  heavy  coats behind

The men  move on to  work

Spring  awakes  us to life  and love

As  people  smile to a new  dawn  of  hope

Leaving the  winter  days  behind

Hoping  to hit  the spring gold

Spring  returns  with  a clap

As  the  clock  moves  forward

Chiming  tick tock, tick  tock, tick  tock

To great  talks  and  mouths  full  of laughter

As  life  goes on

Away  from the cold winter  days and  to fun

Spring  waves goodbye to  the winter  days

How   the furniture  and  Upholstery  makers are  making  our  homes  very  comfortable and beautiful

by  Chinyere  Nwakanma

Thursday   05/02/2026   22:356 BMT

All   labours  are  good  and no work  is  found to  be unimportant. I have travelled to lots of  places  ,where some people  see  some  jobs  as  not crucial  to human  existence,  but every  work  is profitable  either  for charity, leisure  or  health  and  for the  creation of wealth.  The   furniture  and upholstery  makers  are the  talented  men and women  who design  chairs , tables, beds upholstery chairs, dining  chairs, dining tables, cupboards  used  in kitchens and  the toilets  in our homes, offices, hotels  and  other places. They are the  unsung heroes behind  our beautiful  homes and  offices as  an empty  space  does  not make  a  home. They  are  the people  mostly  working in the remote  areas  of  the countries to bring  comfortable chair  designs  to the large shops  offices  and homes in the inner cities. They   work  very hard  to provide  beautiful  furniture  in our homes. Most   families  put  more of their budgets on  buying beautiful  and  durable  furniture  for their  homes. When one opens the  door  to the living room  the upholstered  chairs  and sitting places  bring  joy, especially  when the sofa  is large  and  have  comfortable  roomy spaces  to sit on. Sitting  on a comfortable  upholstered  chair is the  joy of every family  but to make a  finished  product  which  can be  found in  shops  such  as  DFS   ,Hammonds ,Heals ,Barker  and  Stonehouse, Soho homes takes  a little  while and hard work.

The  furniture  makes    our  homes beautiful  and without them our homes will  be  empty. They  make  beautiful  beds, sofas, racks, kitchen  cupboards, dining chairs, upholstery  chairs  and wooden television  stands. They  determine  the shapes and sizes  of the furniture  we  have in our homes, how much  we  pay   and how  we place them  in our  rooms. They  are the tradesmen  who make us to  work into a room  with  smiles. They  help us  to sit comfortably  when we are eating, sleeping  or working  from  home. Imagine  walking into  a room  with a very  beautiful interior  designs ,you will  be happy  and no  matter how  hard  the tasks before you are ,sitting  in   a  room  surrounded by beautiful  furniture  helps  people  to relax  throughout the  day. It makes people to have that feeling that  all the  work they did to get paid  to be  able to  buy such  beautiful  sofas  was  worthwhile. Renting  a  house  adorned with beautiful  sofas  is every man’s  dream. The most  important  aspect  of  a  home  is  the beauty  of  the  furniture   designs in it. The  ability   to withstand  pressure and  give the  body  balance and support. The upholstery makers build  furniture that  have  foundation full of comfort which have unseen internal components that give lasting support.

Some  people  constantly  sneeze  due to the furniture materials  as  some people    are allergic  to certain materials  , making  it a health  hazard  to use them  to  make  cushions  for sofas. These  are the  intricate aspects  of  furniture  making  which puts  human  safety and  health into  consideration  before  decisions  are  made about  the raw materials  to be used  for  sofa  designs. The  upholstery  makers  use   layered Cushion materials to  build  their  products, just to give  them  the most comfortable  feel. The upholstery  makers  use  materials   such as  feathers  to stuff  the  inside  to  make them  soft  and  cosy. They  use   natural  fibres  such  as   cotton, linen, and wool , which  are  found precious  because  of  their softness. They use batting, throws, and cushions to create additional  layers of warmth and cosiness. This involves  intricate  design knowledge that can only  be done  after  years  of trainings.

Padded and upholstered surfaces help dampen noise, creating a quieter, more serene atmosphere in the home. Sitting on a   comfortably built sofa  could help reduce the   stress level  in the  home  as  storage  beds help to  reduce clutters  in the  home, stopping  the anxiety of  having  strangers  walk  into unkempt homes  while  visiting,  which  is  helpful to  the  mental  health  of  the furniture  users. Custom built   upholsteries   allow for personalized colours and textures that harmonize with the home's décor, making homeowners to have   a sense of  comfort and belonging. These are  the ways  upholstery and furniture makers create comfort in  the  homes through material designs, and construction of comfortable  and beautiful  furniture  that stands  the  test  of  time, bringing   joy to  the homeowners and  making them  to  come back  quickly to  the home after  a day’s  job or  while on an outing  to other  places.

How the dining  table became  a vital  aspect  of  the  family’s  day to day  living .

Courtesy  Graceful-A  beautiful  dining  table  shows that everyone deserves  a  beautiful place to eat

The   way to a man’s heart  is the  food  and many people  do underestimate  the  vital role   the  dining table  or dining room play in keeping families  together and  happy. Meal  times are  vital for  family bonding. And the dining table and rooms   are  vital places for  every family to gather  and talk  briefly , about how the day went  after  coming back  from school , work  and businesses, before the  meals  are served , before having the meal brought out  from the  kitchen  to the table. It is a place where  kids  are taught  how to   appreciate  little things  by  saying thanks  to the cooks and meal providers. It offers  a place  of laughter  and close bonding  between family members. It is  a time  for families to  laugh together  after  the  day .Families  who eat together  stays  together,  because  meals  are some of the things that bond people together  and many  people  have beautiful  memories  of family  meal times at old age  , with people talking  highly everywhere  about  their mum’s sweet food.Of  recently  I saw  some of my friends, displaying exotic  meals  they cooked for several  occasions  on social media  and  everyone was beaming  with smiles at their great culinary  skills. Everyone  deserves  to eat good food  and every child  deserves  a  dining table  , where they  can eat together  with  other  members of the family making childhood memorable.Of recently  many women  I spoke  to,  told me that  they do  struggle sometimes  to keep  up  with the demands  of getting  the little children  to the  dining table. But I believe  that making family meals  memorable  is making sure that  people  eat  the healthy  alternatives of what they like that means that  people are not skipping meal  times, because  of  what has  been  cooked especially  the children.I  was  discussing with  some of my friends about  healthy living  and the dining  rooms  and   they told me  that they believe that  if people start  on time during  the teenage years to eat  healthy  ,it  does help  to prevent some of the diseases  that keep people down at  old age.AThis means that the dining table  is important when it comes  to how one feels  at old  age.Prevention  is better than cure , that is the reason  why what  we have on  our dining  tables matter  a lot  to  everyone. This means that the  dining room plays  a  very  vital role in our day  to day  lives.Good food  means   making sure  that everyone  is happy and no –one  is begged  to come for  breakfast, super  or dinner.Good family  values mean that  home planners  make sure that families have beautiful dining tables  at all  times.Dining tables  do  not always have to be expensive, but  a durable  family dining table  becomes , a  place  for family entertainments  and many  may  find it hard to  invite  their  friends  over , because  there are no  dining tables in their homes.Imagine cooking  something and  everyone  rejects the  food. That means  grumpy faces  coming into the  dining table and opening  the plates and quietly walking back to their rooms. And them  mums  running helter skelter to beg them to return back to eat. Not  seeing  everyone  happily eating at the  dinning table,  means that the  meal is not everyone’s  cup of tea. That means mum’s cooking  other  dishes for those rejecting the meals. The  wisdom in making the dining room  a happy place  starts  from making sure that  everyone  eats  what they love  and that is essential while planning a meal,so you have people  walking out greeting  the meal  planner, after  a happy meal  time, meaning that  everyone has been well fed. The  dining table needs  to be sturdy  and beautiful, just to make  sure that people  are not falling off their  chairs  at meal time. A  good  arrangement  of the forks, spoons   and  knives makes  the  the tables attractive. These are  what make the meal  time beautiful and memorable. And  there  are beautiful plates and cups  for the family  in the shops. No  matter  what one’s  budget  is ,there  are places  to get  culinary  for the  tables ,but  everyone  arranging meals  for the family has to bear in mind that people like eating with  beautiful plates, forks, spoons and knives. When people are served   with  beautiful good plates, they feel valued  and well loved. The dining  table cover  says a lot about the meal planner  and  colour  reflects  the value the family placed on meal  times. It is  great to make the family dining  place  a memorable place for  the family and  the children .Children  who are fed on healthy meals  in a beautiful  dining  place  grow  to become  happy  adults.

Good housekeeping  and the reasons  why every home needs a good housekeeper

by  Chinyere  Nwakanma

Monday 03/01/2026  03: 21 P.M  BMT  10 mins

Courtesy- Graceful  Good housekeeping means  the  clothes  and bed linens are  constantly washed

Good housekeeping is not just about cleanliness. It involves all the aspects of tidiness, organisation, upkeep and  the safety of the household.

In this world where women are Jacks  of all trades and masters  of  all,   housekeeping  is the major work  of  a woman in the house  and  good  housekeeping  helps  to keep the  family happy and together. Imagine  everyone  coming back from school  or  work  to  see a very  dirty  house or   plates and sinks .They  will not be happy  but thanks  to the women that the  loos and the sinks  are  always    clean in the home. They  either do the cleaning by themselves or make   arrangements for  the loos to be cleaned by a cleaner.A  good home arrangement and organisation is good for everyone to make sure  that everything is in order  and in good place. Otherwise  the  home will   be filled  with the stench of uncleaned  toilet facility and kitchen  left overs  or unwashed  plates and pots. The Kitchen  sinks with  unwashed plates  do  not bring joy to the family members. Everyone likes  to find the sink clean  and the toilet buckets  fresh  and white. And when  the toilet buckets  and sinks are  sparkly cleaned  with the  bath basin and showers that  is part  of  good  housekeeping.

Courtesy- A  Cosy  living room is great  for the family

If you visit  a laundrymat  it is mostly women driving in to make  sure that the clothes  and the bedsheets  are clean.Making sure that the home is clean  at all times requires  looking out for  little  drops  of  things  like  pins hazards  that  can cause harm or litters that will make the home untidy. It involves  checking the  cupboard  regularly to see that  cleaning supplies  are  enough, food condiments  are enough   in the kitchen for  dinner super  and launch. There  must not  be shortage of drinking water  or juices  to keep everyone  hydrated.Checking the  emergency  medicine   cupboard supply  is necessary  and  having   regular  checks  to make sure  cleaning  abrasives  and medications are out of the reach  of the children if necessary. There  must be enough  disinfectants   and air fresheners  all the time  in the house.Exterminating rodents  and  cockroaches and  flies  where  necessary  shows that  the  housekeeper is on top of her  game.Making sure  that everyone’s buttons or zippers  on the clothes  are  in place  during  laundry  shows that a housekeeper has an eye for details.Checking  the  shirt  necks  for stains ,clothes   for holes,  holes in the shoes  and making sure  that  shoes are  constantly replaced  with better  sizes  and colours is what shows  that  a housekeeper  is looking after  everyone.

With regular change  of toothbrushes and toothpaste  placed in proper cupboards and at the reach of everyone  is vital  with  the younger ones ,supervised during  washing up ,brushing of teeth and teaching them healthy and good grooming of their bodies.Making sure that no body goes out in torn  dirty  and worn out clothes  is necessary  .And  that  the beds  are well made  is great. There  is nothing  that stops  one from having  a bedroom that looks like  a five  star hotel  and it can be done on low  budget. That means that a housekeeper knows what is  good for  the family.Checking  up  the electrical  appliances in the home  and how they are  working  with  all safety  measures  reported  to the maintenance people  means that the housekeeper  is doing well. And  asking everyone to help out where necessary is the work of the housekeeper.Without that done some people  will  be buying piles of  clothes to meet up with the demands  of  dressing up every day   and looking good.Making sure  that the family  is  healthy and on  a  good  balanced diet  morning ,afternoon and night is the priority of   a good housekeeper  because  health is wealth. The housekeeper   makes sure that the home is  clean at all times, the food is tasty and that  everything needed  for the good grooming for the younger kids is supplied.Without that one will see kids coming to school with unbuttoned  shirts ,untied  shoes ,sandals and uncombed  hair.Making sure that  the home is devoid of any hazards .

Courtesy  - A  beautiful bedroom is  great

A regular  check of the fire  alarms  to see that they are working is necessary to  keep  the  home  safe. Sometimes the  fire  and smoke alarm might  not be working and people  may assume that everywhere is fine.A  good smoke  alarm  helps  to keep the home safe and the housekeeper  checks  the  smoke alarm  at intervals  to make   sure that they are working.A  good  housekeeper  will always check   for  signs  of insects or bugs in the sofa  or beds or cracks in the walls  and report it to the maintenance men.And then call the  pest experts or  buy  insecticides  where  needed.Good housekeeping is  a necessary part  of every families day to day  life  and having an eye  for  details is  what makes  good housekeeping worthwhile. One might not be a perfect  housekeeper but there  is nothing bad in  giving  housekeeping  the best one can. Most  very good  housekeepers  learn housekeeping from others  or over the years  by  working in the house. Housekeeping can bring joy to those doing it. Entering a home where  the beds  are  made very well  with  clean white  bedsheets and  everything properly  kept brings joy to everyone.A good aroma from the kitchen is the joy of  everyone ,a  soft bed, good  furniture’s, hanging wall designs  and beautiful up to date electronics  do  bring happiness when seen in a  home. A  clean sparkly beautiful  home is worth  saving for  with all the  ingredients  put together to make the  home cosy.

I went to see the Somerset Gardens

Fresh  flowers blooming on a day of  a long   journey

Gone  to watch  the birds  singing

The  sirens blowing

Gone  to see the scenes

Of the  beautiful  sceneries

 Of the  beautiful  Somerset gardens

As  I  sat   listening to the birds  singing

The Church  bells  nearby  started ringing

The flowers  blooming and the   bee buzzing

Welcoming  my presence with its  loud buzzes

I thought  that I will get a sting

From the buzzing bees

But all  I  saw was the bugs beaming

And  a  butterfly  flying  past

Flying  past  my  twinging  ears

As I took a  plum to eat

And then  sat down  to  think

How time flies  that I could now

Have    time  to reflect on my own

About  the years   gone bye

And   all my friends   who said   goodbye

And everything that   went   wild

As   I reflect   about   summer, winter and the   spring times

The   garden   chairs   holding my large frame

As   I   thought of how   I   grew  from the tiny fragile little  girl

To the  large  buxom old lady

I could not believe that   such   beauty

Could be found in Somerset gardens

As my curiosity quenching journey

Took me through lakes, through lights and through love

Through the grasses and the reflections   on the glasses

As   I  sat to reflect  on light refractions

How   did things  change   through the years?

Moving   past the countryside   on a journey

Of  curiosity

To see the beauty of the countryside

And   have   a reflection   on the years   gone bye

The   birds   singing, the church bells   ringing

The   echoes of the hummingbird singing

The trickling waters   and the Chiming bells

Of the Somerset church   nearby

Beckoning me and the locals greeting and waving

Beaming with beautiful Smiles

Eager tourists   wanting to know more

About the city and its  histories

As the Summer scenes sums up

The beauty and the story   of the Somerset Gardens

London has been more beautiful this summer because of the beautiful flowers planted  around the cities. The  flowers are  blooming and very nice.Gardening  is an aspect  of lifestyle  that many people  living in big cities  like London do  not think about because of the hectic  city life that involves travelling  and long hours  of work. But there are  people who still make out time  to  till the ground  and  make sure  that the places are green. One thing I  love about  the green London  spaces  is the fresh air and their beauty. They are   absolute joy and breaths  of fresh air. Gardening is a good  healthy hobby  and one can start  by planting flowers inside the pots,  which  is  a regular  feature  of some of the homes in London. This happens to be  a good hobby for the retired  and the elderly.

The  Posing  Squirrel

I guess my friends will find this tale laughable. But it is the truth about the magical moment when I stood there watching that little squirrel standing  posing off in the gardens. And it was an enchanting moment that you can only see at the settings of the magical London wild life. The water brooks  running ,the squirrels posing, with the sound of the humming bird chanting down the trees.I have become philosophical about humans posing. If these squirrels can pose off like this. Humans can do better than them, without causing offences to others. Why not?. Life becomes a music and a movie.

The Blooming flowers-A symbol of hope in despair

I took so many images of the blooming flowers ,which we will be sharing on our website and on Graceful magazine issue 11 London is a beautiful place; of which I am amazed at the beauty of its flowers. and wild life. And I have been getting beautiful images of nature this summer, which many lovers of gardening will find very fascinating. I was telling my youngsters, that I used to get Okro for cooking in the garden right at the back of the house, which is a privilege.I sit back to remember myself grabbing the Okro, right from its stalk, as a child relieving the beautiful memories of a fascinating childhood, filled with beautiful memories of love and nature. And yesterday I was amazed, standing before my eyes at the gardens, were the squirrel and the bird, sitting next to each other posing for pictures at the gardens.I have become philosophical about life,if these  squirrels  can   see humans  taking  pictures and twist  and turn for photos. Are  humans  allowed  to pose?. Yes, why not? . After summer the flowers  wither ,but comes  alive  again next year, showing  that   there is hope  even in the dark corners. Look up !

Poem

The lame duck sat on the waters  of the gardens

Drowning with the  duckling

No hope  no food   for the day

Quack,quack,quack,it  quacks

Move    mummy move ,the  duckling  cried

No,No,No,  my head  hurts it   quacks

Move  mummy  move ,the  duckling   screamed

No,no,no  my leg  hurts   it  cried

And then comes  the passer by

Throwing   crumbs of bread  on the waters

Move mummy  move,the duckling yelled

Yes   ,Yes  ,Yes  the  duck   quacks

The  pain is gone dear  duckling

The Hungry  lame duck   took  the  crumb

And   put it inside  the  duckling’s beak

Both   swarm     safely   ashore the waters

And  help  came from a total    stranger

Who   showed   love

To the   drowning  Duck   and the Duckling

The Story of Hope

The lame duck in the pond sat with the swan and  the  duckling  with no food on the  turbulent  waters. It did not  know what  to do for the  day.The little  duckling was crying  for food. And  soon there  were  people  passing by.Humans  are kind  and  they  kept  dropping food  for the  lame duck  that can only paddle  in the seas. And they  had food  for the day.

The  Reasons why Gardeners are being urged to place  washing up bowls in their gardens immediately

by  Chinyere  Nwakanma

Sat 14 June 2025 at 23:54 am BST·2-min read

Gardeners are being  told to leave  washing up bowls in their gardens, but not for the purpose of watering plants, but  for the birds to  have water to drink. Many people may  find this  as  a joke ,but many bird watchers  see this as a good  news  for their much loved pets. The good weather means that many  have  gone  to  plant grapes, strawberries, vegetables, and flowers  in their  gardens as the grasses  and flowers  are blooming  bringing  new life to the ecosystems  including the birds.According to the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, leaving out bowls of water can help to protect the bird populations  as they  could be seen  seeping  water  from the gardens  of those  who  have done that  already ,helping them to quench  their tastes  as  the weather remains hot.

Unfortunately, bird numbers have been declining in recent years, with UK government data showing a shocking 48% decrease in 48% of bird species between 2015 and 2020.

Destructive farming practices have played a significant role in this decline, destroying natural habitats and harming wildlife, as well as polluting rivers and impacting birds' water supply.

Katie Nethercoat, a member of the RSPB's Wildlife Team, explained to HuffPost that  "Lack of rain in the last few months  hardened ground and the  rising temperatures can all bring in challenges for our birds."

According  to her ,gardeners can make a positive difference. "Providing fresh, clean bathing and drinking water is a simple but hugely effective way to help wildlife, as well as leaving areas of damp ground and soil."

Creating a patch of wet mud in ones garden can also be beneficial for the  birds, as it provides a prime feeding ground where they can forage for worms and insects.

This also offers birds a fantastic chance to reconstruct their nests. A variety of birds, including house martins, utilise wet mud to fortify their nests. And we know that  the  activities  of birds  is good  in making sure that  we continue to  enjoy all  things  bright and beautiful.

Why  the  garden is  an important space  for  every  family?

by  Chinyere  Nwakanma

Having a garden is  something  many people  see  as  a  vital must have on the list  when  purchasing  or  renting  a house. So  are other people   not interested in gardens  as  they  see  garden maintenance  as  an arduous  task . Gardening  is  a sport, a lifestyle ,  a  job  and  a hobby. Many might  ask me the reason  why I  consider  gardening  as a  sports. A  sports  is  an activity  that involves physical exertion and skills in which an individual or team competes against  one another or others for entertainment purposes. There have  been gardening competitions of  recently , to  find out  whose gardens  can produce  the best flowers  or  who can produce the  best  food of which  as   a garden  enthusiast  I   find very interesting. In the western  world , the tractors  do all the gardening, but in the third  world  farmers  still use their  hoes  and machetes  to  till the ground and  fill  them with seeds. Gardening  is  a  concept that show lots  about  sowing  and reaping,  of which  many of us  who  grew  up  in  recent   times do  not  actually  think about where the food   we  consume daily  comes from. Our  biology teachers do   keep our  imaginations  running  wild on  how the oxygen helps our crops to live.We pass through the gardens  and  just see the trees as  vital  aspects of nature and all  we want to eat is food.I  think the farmers need to be praised  for  giving us food , even though farming is  an enterprise, but only for  the diligent  considering that    you need to  wait for  harvest  time to  come,  before you  can  make  profits  by selling  the harvested crops. And in this  world of now ,now ,now  many   people see  farming  as  an enterprise, that  is not for them, because  the journey  of  getting  the seeds to become  fruits  and  processed food  is not  a journey  for tomorrow's payday .How can we embrace  farming as a profession  when we can  just   get a little nap?.For those who  cut our flowers  ,they  need to carry their heavy  machines with  fearful  blades, which  means that gardening is not a job for those  who are not strong .Without the gardeners there will be no posh  streets  and  the new  flower  designs  make  their job  vital  to this world. Entering  a  garden to have  some fresh  air is  part of   recreation. Some people  go to the gardens to  jog and  run.Family  picnics with pictures  taken  in the garden are  good  memorabilia  for future remembrances. We  have   lots to gain  by  embracing gardening  and   taking it up  as a hobby.Having vegetables  and saving on  vegetables  can be something good  for  the family  ,when  they  have vegetables in their gardens. This is  a  cost effective  way of  saving  on food  by having a little farm. There is  nothing  so nice  and   beautiful  as  waking up  to see  your own fresh tomatoes    at the  back  of your home.Gardening is  a  beautiful aspect of our lifestyles  because  homes  look more beautiful  when  the  front  house  is  adorned  with  exotic  flowers  with  flamboyant  colours .And for  those  who  like  having fresh  flowers  in the house, some of them  produce  natural  perfumes  that  are needed  to  keep the homes smelling nice. For those with kids ,gardens  are beautiful  spaces  where kids can  run around  when bored  with  sitting at  home. A beautiful  orchard  of  strawberry , tells  us what happens  before  the  sweet fruits  are  shelved  in our  stores  and  an orchard  of   fruits  is vital  to  providing  humans with the needed vitamins.Eating fruits  and vegetables  is  considered  as one of the healthiest way to live.Since  the garden spaces  do provide us with fruits  and vegetables, they are vital  to our  living  well  as  healthy humans. In a new world where taking a nap is the best concept , getting ones hands dirty is something the youngsters see as alien and many do not have any idea of the plants that give them the fruits on the supermarket shelves. The flower remains part of the beauty of London and its suburbs and the countrysides. And flower seeds are sold in shops for flower enthusiasts so many people do have flower pots to keep their homes beautiful.People selling flowers in flower shops make a living out of their investments on natural flowers.

The  Bloom  that  keeps Blooming

by  Chinyere  Nwakanma

I am amazed at the beauty of the British spring  and it is  one of the most beautiful time of the year.  I  was  speaking to someone  about the  new life of  capitalism around the  world, which  has made us  a  generation  that   does  not appreciate  the  simple  things of life. Life  has become more  about how much one has banked  leaving everyone  with   a   mindset of misery  and  some taking it to the other  level of ending it all.Sometimes  I wish  people  could pause and look  at the flowers of  the British  spring and the beauty of the British landscapes. I was at  the  fields  to  take  new images , as  I   looked around  to  see the  different shades of  colours that make this   country a  beauty  to  behold.Despite the  little  shenanigans that come from people  trying to  know how  much is  in your purse , of  which  my mind  is distant  from and  which  is a total   distraction to my work as a writer.I find the flowers  awe  inspiring  as  they remind  me  of  the  goodness surrounding us.There is always  a better tomorrow  even if today  looks   gloomy. After  spring last  year came the summer  and as the year  was  ending every tree  dried. That was magical because  when you thought  that the trees  were  dead , the  next year  as you pass by  during  spring the flowers  gradually  come to life.Sometimes  I do   wonder what happens inside the little  plants  as  they go  to sleep  and then  wake   up again  the next year.I have  this  flower in front of  my place  and   I  watched it dry off last year,  but  this year  it came alife  again. The  bloom  that  keeps  blooming  could  not die , despite the harsh  weather  that   came to  stop it from gracing  and beautifying  our street.Nature  nurtures  it  through the  days  of  little sunshine , but the resilience  inside the  plant system , made it  to  stay  strong  until   the next year  when it  came alife   again, surviving  with the nourishment  it  has stored  inside  when  the weather was nice  and that brings  us to the  story of  hope.Resilience  comes from  having inbuilt  values  that keep us  strong through the thick  and thin of life. The bloom that keeps  blooming hardly  dies.It is kept refreshed  every  year  by nature. It lives  on hope  because   here it is  standing by the corner  of the street, oblivious of  who  is  feeding it,  but   it is well  looked after by the  neighbours of its owners  and its  owners too.Next year  it comes  alife again bringing joy to  passers-by  and hope  to  the  deep thinkers. When we live in the now, we  fail to appreciate the audacity  of hope .No matter  the challenges  we  maybe  facing today, challenges  do have   their expiry  dates and  once the expiry  dates  come, they will  exit the way they came. When  we do  not  hope that  our challenges  will end  ,we live in despair. No  child  remains  the same height  as when they were  born, they keep  growing  until they  reach  their final  height. We see  some  ending  it up    before their time  of reaching their  final  heights.Just  as the world  keep  getting new  ideas,  everyone  is  born with that innate ability  to keep growing and getting better at  the things they are doing  or the things that their parents did not do.It does not matter  if they get it now, now, now,  or latter  in life. That is  the beauty  and wisdom   to  escaping the moments of despair that  make people  to  decide to   end it all.Even if  one feels  deserted  by the world ,they need to look at the flowers of the deserts  which  even  though  standing alone  keep  getting  stronger .When the  herdsmen passes, they  become  sources of succour for them   and their herds. The herds  feed on the leaves  and the  herdsmen  sit  under the trees  to  keep safe from the harsh Sun.Everyone and everything on earth have relevance  to the world. This is the  simplicity  of the beauty  of   creation.Even the  little  birds    and the noises they make  ,sitting on the trees  around our homes  keep us  awake  as humans. The barking  dogs, the   mewing cats , even though  they are  animals  bring us  joy. When  we fail to realise  how much  the  world  is blessed to  behold  the beauty  around us,we  tend to  drag  little things  that  stop us  from  enjoying the little  blessings  we have with others.Whether  your  home is  in Sheraton plaza  or  in the hills  of  Zanzibar, you have a roof over  your head.It is the roof  that you need. There  is something  to  be delighted about , wherever  you are placed. Our curiosities  and  desires  to get what  others  have , make us to get  hurt because we have not come to the point of  looking  around  us  to  see  the beauty  of our world.Think about  the summer  holidays, even if you  cannot travel to Zanzibar to see the beautiful  lakes, right  behind  your home  is somewhere  as beautiful  as the lakes of Zanzibar,  so  enjoy your  lake  until  providence helps you to travel and leave your worries behind. There are many  who  wish   to see  the blooming flowers  around us, but  providence  did not give them  the gift of seeing. But they  are happy  in the little  given  to them,at least they can touch people. Some cannot walk  and some cannot  even  listen to  the  beautiful  sounds  of the  running springs nor see the sights and sounds  of London , but  hope  keeps  them going. They  depend on people that  they have not seen  to feed them  not  worrying about being hurt. They  sing to the tunes of nature having never  seen the radios  nor  seen any musician, but they  are happy  and they are keeping hope alive. We need to be aware  of the pressures  that  keep us in the places  of losing hope to the point of thinking of  ending it up and run away from them.Even when those that do  not understand  us or our  nature  say nasty things  about us,there must be one person who loves us  deeply  without  prejudice or judging us,  that one person  could be the reason why we  are here.Sometimes  we do not need the appreciation of multitudes to  find   reasons to stay strong  even during the   times of our trials. There must be  someone  who  loves us  despite  our mistakes and frailties and that one person  should  not skip our minds  when we are thinking  that despair  is our last resort  to  sorting the  challenges  around us.If  someone is there to keep  embarrassing you , just stay  away , because he  has no understanding  of the turmoil within you.He has never won the  shoes you are wearing. He is in his own perfect world.Do not end it  all  for  him, because he is  in his own  comfort zone. Be contented where you are  at each moment.Just  as the  flowers  of spring  keep  blooming  at its  spot, keep  blooming  at  your spot,   until the earth hears your voice  and even if they  do not hear you, your mum, your dad, your  friends, your wife , your husband your brothers and sisters   and neighbours  will   hear you.And when you need a shout  when overwhelmed  by the challenges of life, reach out to them  for  comfort that is the reason why providence made them  to know  you.Even if strangers  cannot comfort you through your  challenges,  reach out to the one person  who loves you and will  never  judge you.You are not here by  mistake. Look up  !!!!.

Finding Light in the Shadows: A Journey Through Depression

20/01/2025

In the depths of darkness, when the world feels heavy and hope seems distant, it’s easy to believe that you’re all alone. Many of us have experienced the overwhelming weight of sadness, the sense of being trapped in an endless cycle of despair. But amidst the struggle, there’s a flicker of light—a reminder that healing is possible and connection is within reach. This journey through depression can be daunting, but it can also be a path to understanding ourselves more deeply and finding moments of joy, no matter how small. Together, let’s explore ways to navigate this challenging terrain, embrace our emotions, and discover the strength that lies within us. You are not alone, and there is hope waiting for you just beyond the shadows.

Depression is just a scene of your life not a state.

Here is the gist, Scenes are phases of your life whether good or bad which don’t last but what you do in them determines what the state of your life will be like when you are out of that phase.

State is a result of whether you made good use of every phase you go through. This is the accumulated score of your challenges you have overcome

In moments when the world feels unbearably heavy, it’s crucial to recognize the deep pain that accompanies depression. If you’re grappling with this silent struggle, I want you to hear me clearly: I see you. I see the battles you fight daily, the moments when getting out of bed feels like an insurmountable task. It’s not just in your head; the emotions you carry are profound and real. They matter. Your experience is significant, and acknowledging that is the first step toward healing.

Your feelings are valid, no matter how confusing or isolating they may seem. It’s easy to dismiss our emotions or feel ashamed of them, but it’s vital to embrace what you’re going through. Whether you’re overwhelmed by sadness, feeling detached from everything, or wrestling with a constant sense of anxiety, each of these feelings tells a part of your story. They deserve to be honored and understood. By allowing yourself to sit with these emotions, you open the door to understanding your own heart better.

As you navigate this journey, remember that you don’t have to carry this burden alone. There are people who genuinely want to support you and who understand the depths of your pain. Reaching out for help can be daunting, but it’s a courageous step toward reclaiming your life. You are worthy of compassion, and together, we can illuminate the path through this darkness, reminding you that hope and healing are possible, even when they feel out of reach.

Inspire Hope

Depression can often feel like a heavy fog, enveloping everything in darkness. Yet, it’s essential to remember that this fog isn’t permanent. Your journey through depression is just that—a journey. There will be twists and turns, moments of despair, and also glimmers of light. Each day is an opportunity for growth and healing, and change is always possible. Even when it feels like you’re standing still, every small effort you make is a step toward brighter days. Hold onto that hope; it can be your guiding star, illuminating the path ahead.

Celebrate Small Wins

In the midst of struggle, it’s easy to overlook the small victories that make a difference. Each day, you might achieve little things that deserve recognition. Maybe you got out of bed when it felt impossible, or perhaps you took a moment to enjoy a favourite song. These are not just mundane actions; they are powerful affirmations of your strength. Celebrate these moments, no matter how small, for they are the building blocks of recovery. Each step forward, no matter how tiny, is a testament to your courage and resilience. Embrace these wins, and let them remind you that progress is being made, one day at a time.

Self-Care Strategies

As you navigate your journey through depression, remember that self-care is not a luxury but a necessity. Simple practices can provide gentle nudges toward healing. Consider journaling your thoughts, allowing your feelings to flow onto the page. A walk outside, even if just around the block, can help clear your mind and connect you with the world. Engaging with nature—feeling the breeze or noticing the beauty of a tree—can ground you in the present moment. These small acts of kindness toward yourself can make a significant difference, helping you reconnect with the light within.

Seek Support

Never underestimate the power of reaching out. Connecting with friends, family, or a trusted mental health professional can be a lifeline during tough times. Talking about your feelings can bring relief and clarity. You don’t have to face this journey alone; there are resources available, such as helplines and support groups, where you can find understanding and compassion. Sharing your experiences with others can lighten the burden, reminding you that support is always within reach.

Normalize Seeking Help

Breaking the stigma surrounding mental health is crucial. Remember, seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. It takes courage to acknowledge when you need support, and doing so is a powerful step toward healing. Therapy or counseling can be incredibly beneficial, offering a safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings. Many people find that talking to a professional helps them navigate their journey, providing tools to cope and thrive. Embrace the idea that reaching out for help is a courageous act, and know that you are not alone in this journey.

Practice Mindfulness

In the midst of depression, it can be challenging to find peace, but embracing mindfulness can be a powerful ally. Mindfulness encourages you to focus on the present moment, allowing you to find calm amidst the storm. Simple grounding techniques, such as taking deep breaths or observing your surroundings, can help anchor you when your mind feels overwhelming. Try to immerse yourself in the sensations around you—the warmth of sunlight, the sound of leaves rustling. These moments can create a sense of tranquility, reminding you that even in darkness, there is still beauty to be found.

 Express Emotions

It’s important to remember that your feelings are valid, whatever they may be. It’s okay to experience sadness, anger, or confusion; these emotions are part of your journey. Allow yourself the space to feel deeply. Journaling can be a powerful outlet, offering a safe haven for your thoughts and emotions. Write freely, without judgment, letting your feelings flow onto the page. If words feel difficult, explore other creative outlets—drawing, painting, or even music can provide a voice for what’s inside. Embracing and expressing your emotions can help lighten the load, allowing you to process what you’re experiencing and gradually find your way back to the light.

Foster Connection

In the journey through depression, one of the most powerful tools at your disposal is connection. Finding others who understand your struggles can create a profound sense of companionship and support. Consider reaching out to online communities or local support groups where you can share experiences, fears, and triumphs with those who truly get it. These spaces can offer a refuge, reminding you that you’re not alone in this fight. The bonds you form can be a source of strength, providing encouragement and hope when you need it most.

Connecting with others can also foster a sense of belonging that often feels elusive in times of darkness. Sharing your story and hearing the stories of others can illuminate commonalities, making the weight of depression feel lighter. Whether through a local meetup or a virtual group, these connections can create a nurturing environment that cultivates healing and understanding. You deserve this support; don’t hesitate to seek it out.

Share Resources

Alongside connection, accessing the right resources can enrich your journey. There are numerous blogs, podcasts, and books that delve into the experiences of depression and the pathways to recovery. These resources can provide valuable insights and comforting narratives that resonate with your own feelings. Engaging with this material can empower you, offering new perspectives and coping strategies to incorporate into your daily life.

As you explore these resources, consider curating a personal toolkit of favourites that speak to you. Whether it’s a podcast that lifts your spirits or a book that offers comfort and guidance, having these materials on hand can serve as a reminder that hope and healing are possible. You’re not just navigating this journey; you’re building a community and a wealth of knowledge to help light your way forward.

Reinforce Resilience

As you come to the end of this journey, take a moment to recognize the incredible strength and resilience within you. Each step you’ve taken, no matter how small, is a testament to your courage. While the path through depression may be winding and challenging, it’s essential to remember that brighter days are indeed ahead. You possess the power to navigate this journey, and with each day, you are moving closer to healing and hope. Trust in your ability to rise above the shadows; your spirit is stronger than you realize.

Embrace Professional Help

In this journey, speaking to a therapist can be one of the most valuable steps you take. A professional can offer guidance, support, and tools tailored to your unique experience. Embracing help is not a sign of weakness; rather, it is an act of profound strength and self-compassion. It shows that you are committed to your healing and willing to invest in your future. Remember, you don’t have to face this alone. Seeking professional support can illuminate the path ahead, providing clarity and encouragement as you work toward brighter days.

Invite Reflection

Before you move forward, I invite you to pause and reflect. Take a deep breath, allowing yourself to fully inhabit this moment. Visualize the future you desire—one filled with light, joy, and possibility. Picture the small victories, the connections you've made, and the support you’ve gathered along the way. Embrace this vision as a source of motivation and comfort. Remember, hope is a flickering flame within you, waiting to be nurtured. As you move forward, carry this sense of hope with you; it will guide you toward the brighter days that await.

In Conclusion

I need you to know that your journey through depression is not a solitary one. You are surrounded by resources, support, and a community that understands. Embrace the help available to you, whether through friends, family, or professionals.

Each day is a new opportunity for growth, healing, and connection. As you move forward, hold onto the hope that brighter days lie ahead. Trust in yourself and the resilience that has carried you this far. Remember, every step you take brings you closer to the light. You are worthy of joy, healing, and a future filled with promise.

This journey through depression can feel isolating and overwhelming, but it's essential to remember that you are not alone. Embracing the idea that depression is a journey not a destination (scene not state) helps foster hope and resilience.

Each small step you take is a victory worth celebrating, whether it’s getting out of bed or reaching out to a friend. These moments matter, reminding you of your strength and capacity for change.

Practicing self-care and mindfulness can be powerful tools in navigating this path. Simple actions, like journaling or taking a walk in nature, provide opportunities for connection and grounding. They invite you to focus on the present, helping to alleviate some of the weight of your emotions. It’s also vital to express what you’re feeling, allowing your emotions to flow through creative outlets or conversations with trusted individuals.

Seeking professional help is a courageous and necessary step in your journey. Speaking to a therapist can provide invaluable support, offering guidance and understanding that can illuminate the path ahead. Remember, asking for help is not a sign of weakness; it’s a powerful affirmation of your commitment to healing.

As you reflect on your journey, take a moment to envision a future filled with hope and possibility. Every breath you take, every small victory you acknowledge, brings you closer to brighter days. Embrace the community around you—friends, family, and support groups—who can offer companionship and understanding.

Ultimately, this journey is about finding the light within yourself, nurturing it, and allowing it to guide you toward a fulfilling and joyful life. You are worthy of that light, and brighter days await.
